Life or Something Like It

Life SHOULD NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well- preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, wine in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally WORN out and screaming "WOO HOO - WHAT A RIDE!!!"

If It Looks Like an Idiot, and Walks Like an Idiot..........

I never fail to be amused. Most of the time at other people's expense.

For example:

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/19692094/

“Christ ‘established here on earth’ only one church,” the document said. The other communities “cannot be called ‘churches’ ..."

"...and therefore did not have the “means of salvation.”

How fucking arrogant.

I hate religion.

I'm thinking Wicca probably fits into the category of not having "the means of salvation."

I smile and shake my head.

I don't miss it. AT ALL.

Hile Hitler !!!!

I am very happy at the news coming out of the Vatican (By the way I am not Roman Catholic). ALL belief systems claim certain exclusive truths and beliefs, even Wicca. They would not have separate practices and all need separate names and labels to identify them if this were not so.

Why should we pretend like all believe the same thing? I believe that I MUST love my enemies, but I do not expect others to believe this, never mind practice it. Neither do I expect them to be tolerant of my beliefs, although I am tolerant of theirs.

This declaration from the Vatican brings something into popular understanding that has always been a teaching of the Roman Catholic system, for example the Roman Catholic Council of Trent declared that all Protestants were accursed. Why pretend that there are no issues that separate? I have no problem with them damning me to Hell.

I agree with you in that I also hate religion, religion separates people from God. Following Jesus is about a genuine relationship with Him, not “being good”, following “rules” or “being religious”.

If I am walking down the street and I see an attractive woman walking down the street what is better for me as a married man to have in my thoughts? Thou shalt not… Or Wow I have extreme love for my wife (love energized by a true genuine relationship with the Creator)? The “thou shalt nots” were given to humans because they begged for them! People love religion (under different disguises). We are proud and think we can do it on our own. A relationship is different; we don’t and cannot by definition do it alone.

I can see why you feel the way you do about religion; it must have been just awful to be a part of that kind of hypocrisy and slavery. I do not experience this with my faith community, just love, genuine clearly lived compassion, grace, mercy, tolerance (I have never seen so much tolerance in a group of people!), and opportunities to see God at work in people’s lives, transformed lives, true liberty and freedom; all because of relationship with God not religion, legalism, rules, or being judgmental.

A simple meek humble begging question for you (understand there is no accusatory tone involved here, or preaching, just a simple question for clarity) do you think perhaps your response to the Pope is not that different from his response to you?
